It has been almost six months since the last update. That’s quite a long time. Especially for someone who claims to tell stories! I won’t seek excuses to explain that. I was definitely lacking some engagement, creativity and inspiration. Some ongoing personal changes also contributed to this.
Changes
You can imagine a lot can change in a span of half year. In my case, that is the case.
You must welcome change as a rule, but not as your ruler
— Denis Waitley
So what were the changes? We’ve moved back to London from Hamburg after almost 1,5 years of living there. Personal choices motivated this move. It wasn’t like it was terrible living in Germany. In fact, I’ve enjoyed Hamburg, but during COVID-times, it felt a bit like hibernating. Yet, we decided to change the place (again) as something was missing.
What followed that was also a need to change a job. That didn’t come easy, of course. After a couple of years of working with many talented, fantastic and kind people at MediaMarktSaturn, it was tough to say goodbye. I had a great time working with that company. I appreciate the company’s trust and confidence in me. The time there helped me tremendously to grow, gaining experience and leadership skills.
Looking onwards
Let’s start with a quote:
The future is uncertain, but that can be a good thing.
— Jennifer Niven, All the Bright Places
If I had to describe myself, I’d probably say that I’m a person that doesn’t like changes. Yet somehow, by being accustomed to them more and more, I’m starting to embrace them. There’s definitely potential to grow, learn new things and discover new opportunities.
I like my new role at Switch, embarking on a frontend journey with Remix tech stack, and so far, I’m really enjoying it!
Being back in the UK also has its own perks. In 2022 I know that I’ll focus more on photography and exploration of the national parks in the UK. I have a desire to up my game in landscape photography. I have even already have something to show.
I’ll leave you with this hopeful image of a sunset I captured some time ago to finish. See you soon!
