Running this Sunday was all about mud, wet and slippery slopes. We started around 9:00 and traversed some nice trail paths in Lasek Wolski, small forest area in western part of Kraków. It was nice, technical run, mixed with a lot of sliding through mud and rain puddles.
It’s always hard to get up early, preparing for our weekend run, but the moment I’m in the car and we’re heading to our destinations I don’t have any regrets. I’m always happy to show up and go for a run. This time, we started rolling around 8:30 and half hour later we were on the spot.
Short prep, we fire our GPS watches and go. The path we follow quickly go into woods and we start climbing path traversing some small gorge.
Everything is damp, wet and slippy. But on the other hand, the colors feels somehow quite vivid. Especially the green moss covering stones and old fallen trees. This first part of the trails is my favourite one. We’re traversing the sides of the ravine and the paths have multiple ups and downs, tight passages, steps and tiny bridges. It’s quite entertaining.
We climb up, my HR is of course almost at maximum. I still have a lot to do here. But we keep moving. At around 4km we reach the Piłsudski’s Mound. I fell a little stronger than I previously thought and I push a little harder to the top. No views from there – fog & clouds covering everything. There, we catch couple breaths and run back down.
Rest of the route is the same fun. Multiple climbs and descents, lots of slips and slides. But most of the time I feel quite good. But for the last uphills, we slow down, walking them up. Still, a lot to do here.
We finish the route at around 12km with around 1h:32m. Quite nice after all. But how do I clean my shoes now?
